2d LT Christian Sherman
Christian was born in Butte in 2002. He's extremely competitive and has provided Butte with some great sports entertainment. He was one of Butte's most dynamic BHS wrestlers giving fans some of the most exciting matches in recent memory. Christian was a key team member in BHS soccer, was a kicker for BHS football, and did pole vault / long distance for BHS track & field. He was a team captain in both wrestling and soccer, as well as Butte's 2020 Teen of the Year.
His dream has always been to be an astronaut. At the age of 8, one of his wrestling coaches explained to him that a best-probability path to that goal starts by attending the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA). To even have a slight chance of getting there, he needs excellent grades, be team captain of an individual sport as well as a team sport, be an upstanding citizen, and do community service. Upon USAFA graduation, become an Air Force Pilot. During or after your pilot career, apply to NASA and/or private companies to pilot space craft. He's on track. Christian graduated BHS as valedictorian in 2020. And on May 30, 2024, he graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy as a commissioned Second Lieutenant with a B.S. in Astronautical Engineering.
Christian held a couple of jobs at USAFA. His engineering related job was satellite operations and software innovation for FalconSAT-X. His primary military job was Training Officer where he designed, developed and carried out training procedures / strategy / regiment through the ranks of USAFA. Christian's commissioned job is Pilot. He is currently training at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX. However, he has already piloted gliders, prop planes, and an F-15e.
His passion is Christ-centered mission in worship, bible study, and ministry. He plays drums, guitar, and keyboard for three worship teams/bands. He also enjoys rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, jujitsu, and combatives (of which he remains undefeated at USAFA).
